1. What Earned is

Earned is a parental-control app built around a token economy: children earn tokens by using apps a parent has designated as productive, and spend tokens on entertainment apps or on real-world rewards a parent has enabled. Tokens are an internal unit of value tracked in Earned's backend ledger. Tokens are not currency, are not transferable between families, and have no cash value except through the reward-redemption flow described below.

2. Account eligibility

A parent (or legal guardian) creates and owns the family account and must be old enough to enter a binding agreement in their jurisdiction. Children participate only as profiles managed under a parent's family account. A child is never the account holder and cannot independently agree to these terms.

3. The token economy

• Earning and spending rules (which apps earn tokens, which apps cost tokens, and at what rate) are set by the parent and applied deterministically by Earned's backend, so the same inputs always produce the same result.
• A child's spending apps are paused once their token balance reaches zero; balances never go negative.
• Rule changes take effect for new activity going forward. Earned never retroactively claws back tokens a child has already earned.
• All ledger entries (earn, spend, top-up, refund, adjustment, reversal) are permanent and auditable; nothing is silently deleted or overwritten.

4. Reward redemption

Where enabled, a child may request to redeem tokens for a real-world reward (for example, a gift card), subject to parent approval. Redemption fulfillment (for example, gift-card issuance) depends on third-party providers (currently Stripe for payment processing and Tremendous for gift-card fulfillment) and their availability, inventory, and terms. Earned is not responsible for a third-party provider's failure to fulfill a reward, but will work with the family to resolve fulfillment issues in good faith.

5. Subscriptions (Earned Plus)

Earned offers an optional paid subscription tier ("Earned Plus") with expanded features. Where a subscription is purchased through an app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store), billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds for that purchase are handled by that app store under its own terms. Cancelling or a lapse in a Plus subscription never removes tokens a child has already earned. Current subscription availability and pricing are shown in-app and are subject to change with notice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or attempt to falsify a device's reported app usage in order to manipulate token balances; not to use Earned for any unlawful purpose; and not to attempt to access another family's account or data.

7. Termination

A parent may close their family account at any time (see the Privacy Policy for what happens to data on deletion). We may suspend or terminate an account for violation of these terms or unlawful use, with notice where practicable.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Earned is provided "as is." We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the app, third-party reward fulfillment, or that any specific reward will remain available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Earned's liability for any claim arising from use of the app is limited to the amount, if any, paid by the account holder for the subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to these terms, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, notify account holders in-app or by email.
